Carrying Another's Cross, in Lima, Peru

imageFew will accomplish what Saint Padre Pio accomplished during his lifetime. His legacy continues despite his death and the sufferings of millions will ultimately find relief in his House. However, we all have the capacity to make a difference. Many local Catholic health care providers are doing just that with their participation in the Austin Diocese Medical Mission (ADMM).

Dedicated to providing health care services to poverty stricken families in the Mexico and Central/South American countries, the ADMM travels 2-4 times a year with medicines and an extensive health care team with the hope of bringing relief to others. For the 2000-3000 adults and children that are treated during each Mission, the experience is life changing—some are seeing a doctor or dentist for the very first time. And even though the health care team spends only one week in these remote locations, it is life changing for them as well—For to carry the cross of another is to more fully participate in God's work.

imagePlease consider embarking on this incredible journey. The next Mission will take place in Lima, Peru from September 28 - October 8. In addition to serving the local community, time will be spent visiting one of the New Seven Wonders of the World: Machu Picchu. "The Lost City of the Incas." For more information, please contact Tino Hernandez at or call (512) 981-6002.

Called by Name

There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work… Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. – 1 Corinthians 12:4-6, 12

As the Catholic Healthcare Guild, we hope to affect a new sense of cooperation between the various specialties that comprise the health care system.
